ABOUT THE ARTIST

The Journey & Vision

Mansi, artist behind Snippet and Splotch

I am Mansi, someone who perhaps took learning art in school a little too seriously. What began as discipline became devotion; art was never casual, but studied, practiced, and eventually loved. That seriousness built the foundation.

On the contrary, the name SNIPPET AND SPLOTCH does not take itself too seriously, intentionally so. For me, picking up a brush is about delight, not perfection; about lightness and play. Here, creation goes beyond a basic canvas. Different surfaces and mediums set Snippet and Splotch apart, with textures, layers, and mixed techniques shaping each story. The work is not just painted; it is built and explored. The process matters as much as the outcome.

For me, art is expression in its most vivid, radiant, viscerally visual form. It becomes rhythm, instinct, language — simply joy made visible.

"Picking up a brush is about delight, not perfection."

STORIES BEHIND THE ART

The Inspiration & Process

BLACK GARDEN

Floral forms emerge against a deep black background, creating a striking contrast and quiet intensity. This piece is made using water-soluble colour pencils, first activated with water for a soft, painterly base. Once dry, finer details were layered using the pencils dry, allowing precision and depth through a thoughtful dual technique.

JUNGLE ROYALTY

An exploration of strength and subtlety. Emerging from a tangle of forest florals, the leopard's form is rendered primarily in bold black outlines, with fine touches of gold adding quiet luminosity. Created on glass using nail paint liners and set against a white backing, the piece reimagines both medium and frame.

AFTER VAN GOGH

This acrylic interpretation of a self-portrait by Vincent van Gogh captures his iconic grey felt hat and the vivid blue-green tones that define his palette. Carefully observed and faithfully rendered, the piece echoes his signature short, expressive brushstrokes. It stands as a close study — an homage shaped through attentive understanding of his technique and detail.

GOLDEN MANDALA

This hand-built clay mandala rises beyond the flat surface, sculpted layer by layer with careful precision. Finished in luminous gold spray paint, the 3D piece stands independently with a handmade backing. Subtle fairy lights placed behind it cast delicate shadows, transforming it into a glowing mantle display that blends sculpture, craft, and quiet illumination.
